Royal Scot I have broken my build progress over a number of key areas, refer to the links on the left. The order in which these links are listed, is in line with the order in which I have approached the build. Each of these pages themselves contain further links to more specific areas - each one illustrated with pictures and narrative from the build. 20th September 2011 - Model name selected The build is progressing well, certainly when considering available workshop time with my work and family commitments. The time is fast approaching when I'm going to need to consider painting the model, even if it is just the chassis at this stage. So, I have made a decision on which Royal Scot to base this model on, that being 6133 "Vulcan". I have always intended this to be an unrebuilt Royal Scot, so it only seems right to adopt one of the early names. 6133 "Vulcan" was built by the North British Locomotive Company in 1927, renamed "The Green Howards" some time in 1935/6, rebuilt in July 1944 and was eventually withdrawn from service in February 1963*, 13 months before I was born. *Reference:'Royal Scots of the LMS', E.S.Cox, John Powell, W.A.Tuplin, P.G.Johnson. |
