Workshop Like many in the hobby, my workshop is based in my garage. I have installed a bench along one side with cupboards underneath and a larger cupboard at one end: |

As you can see, I keep the most commonly used tools to hand. Opposite the bench, I have a Boxford BUD lathe and a Warco Minor Milling Machine: |

I have tried a few lathes over the years, a Far Eastern import from Chester, a Myford ML7 and a Boxford CUD. The Chester lathe was ok, but it was one with a milling head attached which was not very practical. The Myford, I just did not like and I upgraded from the Boxford CUD to the BUD to get the powered cross feed. Although, Far Eastern machine tools are oftem much malinged, I find the Milling Machine just fine. With hindsight, I would not have bought one with a round column as this does mean having to carefully set the head height prior to any operation or having to re establish its position with regards to the work piece if I do have to raise or lower it. I have produced some excellent results with this: |
